Kids Dentistry

Milk teeth are as important as the permanent teeth. Milk teeth help to maintain sufficient space for the erupting permanent teeth. To avoid early loss of milk teeth due to decay, children should be assessed periodically and any detected tooth decay must be removed carefully and tooth restored.

Crowns

1

If a need arises for root canal treatment for the milk teeth, readymade steel crowns are used to restore the tooth to maintain the space in the jaws and also to get the form and function of the teeth back.

Rampant Caries

2

A strong treatment with natural look.
These types of caries occur suddenly, which spreads to adjacent tooth, causing pain faster than normal decay. These cavities are soft and yellowish brown in color. The uniqueness of this decay is the decay spread to upper as well as lower teeth with short duration. Usually diet analysis & modification of diet by reducing the amount of frequency of sucrose consumption is done.

Nursing Bottle Caries

3

Prevention is better than cure
Nursing bottle caries is the primary type of tooth decay observed in infants. Bottle feeding, especially nocturnal feeding or when child are allowed to sleep with bottle in their mouth, leads to nursing bottle caries. During sleep there is reduction in salivary flow causing milk stagnation in the mouth leading to tooth decay/cavities. These cavities will appear as white spots on the tooth especially seen in upper teeth. Over a period of time, these cavities will be formed which appears as yellow, brown & black stains. This is an alarming sign because the disease is widespread, among young children and if untreated can lead to early loss of teeth due to decay. Proper oral hygiene, feeding pattern & dietary practices to be followed by the caretaker to avoid nursing bottle caries.

In CHOPRA DENTAL CLINIC,we advise the parent to have the first dental visit for the child ideally after the child’s first birthday. During the first visit, caries risk assessment is done for the child to prevent dental decay. If any white spots are found parents are educated how to clean their child’s teeth with fluoride toothpaste, fluoride varnish is applied by the dentist to avoid cavity formation.

Fluoride Application

4

Fluoride Application is used to prevent tooth decay by making the tooth more resistant to acid attacks produced from the bacteria and prevent plaque formation on the tooth. These treatments contain more amount of fluoride than tooth pastes and mouth rinses.

At CHOPRA DENTAL CLINIC, we believe in preventive dentistry thereby promoting the use of fluoride which is applied either as gel, foam or varnish. Varnishes are painted to the teeth whereas foams are put into trays which are applied to the teeth for one to four minutes and gels can either be painted or applied via trays. This fluoride treatment is used to minimize the development of dental cavities.

Pit & Fissures

5

Usually dental cavities are found in the back region of the teeth for children because deep and/or uncoalesced pits and fissures are present which are impossible to clean, due to tooth anatomy which is directly related to shape and depth of the pit and fissures on the chewing surface of back teeth where most cavities are found.

At CHOPRA DENTAL CLINIC, we believe in preventive dentistry thereby promoting the use of sealants which are extremely effective in reducing the incidence of pit-and-fissure cavities. Sealants are made of clear or shaded polymers applied to the teeth surfaces and they attribute to the physical obstruction of these pit and grooves to keep them cavity free

Scaling

6

The professional cleaning of teeth is called oral prophylaxis and is carried out in two phases – Scaling and Polishing . This treatment protects the gums from infectious diseases that could lead to loss of teeth. Scaling removes plaque, tartar and stains that cannot be removed by regular brushing from the exposed and un exposed surfaces of the teeth. Polishing makes the surfaces of the teeth smooth. This treatment results in clean and smooth teeth.

At CHOPRA DENTAL CLINIC, we use Ultrasonic latest generation Scalers that use advanced technology in the state of the art control module to reduce sensitivity after scaling. We use only filtered clean water for scaling procedure
